Description
Skillstreaming is a social skills training program for students with autism that employs a four-part approach - modeling, role-playing, performance feedback, and generalization - to teach essential prosocial skills to children and adolescents. Developed by Dr. Arnold P. Goldstein and colleagues, this is an evidence-based strategy to systematically teach social skills and a variety of behaviors to students, from academic competency and sports to daily living and making friends.
Skillstreaming the Elementary School Child book for autism contains a complete description of the program, along with instructions for teaching 60 prosocial skills. It also includes homework reports, assessment forms, and a CD. Skills areas include: Classroom Survival Skills, Making Friends, Dealing with Feelings, Alternatives to Aggression, and Dealing with Stress.
