Detailed Description
The GARS-2 is the revised, norm-referenced instrument that assists teachers, parents and clinicians in identifying and diagnosing autism in individuals ages 3 through 22, and in estimating the severity of the disorder. The items on the scale are based on definitions of autism adopted by the Autism Society of America and the DSM-IV-TR. There are 42 clearly stated items describing characteristics of individuals with autism. The items are grouped into three subscales: Stereotyped Behaviors, Communication, and Social Interaction. The entire scale can be completed and scored in approximately 5-10 minutes. There is also a structured interview form included for gathering diagnostically important information from the child's parents. The kit includes the Examiner's Manual, 50 Summary/Response Booklets, and the Instructional Objectives Manual which assists in the formulation of instructional goals and objectives based on the results of the assessment.
Note that the 2nd edition has been updated and improved to reflect current data and demographics.
